David Mierkey - Territory Sales Manager, Central Valley, California
Where are you from?
I am from Stockton, California. I have lived in Eugene (OR), San Jose (CA), and Alameda (CA), but was drawn back to my hometown.
How did you get interested in solar?
I got interested in solar when I was in the financial business. It was an industry that was just starting to grow, and I thought it would be smart to learn more about it. And I’m so glad I did!
What is your favorite thing about solar?
The solar industry is dynamic and challenging. It is an ever-changing landscape of products and people. The more I learn, the more there is to learn. There is never a dull day in solar.
When did you start at Solaria?
January 2, 2019. It has been an interesting and fulfilling job so far!
What is your job position at Solaria?
Territory Sales Manager, Central Valley (CA). The Central Valley stretches from Redding in the north to Bakersfield in the south.
Why do you like working at Solaria?
I enjoy engaging with solar installers and customers. The people are genuine and friendly. Whether they are working for a large or small company, the goal is always the same— to provide the best service and to help the environment.
Hobbies/favorite things to do when you are not working?
I play golf, travel and help the community where I can. I participate in school boards and committees at my daughter’s school.
Fun fact:
I was a salmon and steelhead fishing guide for several years on rivers in Southern Oregon and down to the Sacramento Valley. My passion was “fishing kids for free!”— any child that jumped on the board, either on the 23’ jet powered boat or the quiet riding drift boat (powered by me), fished at no cost. The look on a child’s face while they are trying to reel in a large, hard fighting King Salmon and the pure happiness afterwards is priceless. I truly enjoyed, and still do, that joyful look on people’s faces.
