Logistics and Inventory Control Specialist

 Summary

The Logistics and Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for effectively handling all aspects of global logistics, as well as managing inventory across all Solaria facilities and various third-party warehouse fulfillment centers. This position is based in Fremont, CA and reports to the Vice President of Manufacturing Operations.

 Duties and Responsibilities (others may be assigned)

  • Engage in direct communications with 3PL warehouses and overseas Contract Manufacturers regarding day to day logistics and inventory activities

  • Carry out day to day inventory transactions. Verify accuracy of in and out transfer records from 3PL warehouses and address discrepancies. Ensure inventory system transactions are accurate and reconcile as needed

  • Collaborate closely with Sales Operations team to insure that product moves from 3PL warehouses to distribution partners’ facilities per customer expectations

  • Maintain records of relevant documentation for audit purposes

  • Perform quarterly or as required cyclic inventory inspection at 3PL warehouses

  • Participate in rates negotiation with carriers, freight forwarders and brokers to ensure the highest level of service with maximum incentive is achieved.

  • Assist in new 3PL warehouse evaluation, qualification and selection. Drive the performance evaluation of 3PL warehouses and domestic and international carriers using scorecards.

  • Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing or frequency. Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as new warehouse, shipping modes and carriers.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, sales, 3rd party manufacturer’s operations/order management, finance and 3rd party warehouses.

  • Maintain policies and procedures (SOP) for logistics activities. Design models for use in evaluating logistics programs or services.

  • Effectively utilize all applicable modes of transportation: TL, LTL and small package by analyzing and evaluating best practices for freight handling and transportation. 

  • Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, import or export, or customer issues

  • Manage auditing of freight invoices and customs import entries to ensure accuracy and capture any discrepancies.

  • Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements

  • Maintain matrix, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and other data related to all logistics activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience

  • 4 years of experience in global logistics, purchasing, warehouse management and/or inventory control

  • Working knowledge of US Customs and related Federal laws and regulations.

  • Understanding of Incoterms and Harmonized Tariff Schedule. 

  • Knowledge of Anti-Dumping and Countervailing duties (AD/CVD)

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a demonstrated high attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Skilled in MS Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Experience with ERP Systems preferred

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20%
