Senior Reliability Engineer
Solaria Corporation is a solar company headquartered in Fremont, California. We are changing the way solar panels are made and the applications they are used in. We are seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer with emphasis on Materials Science. The Reliability Engineer will work closely with design, product, process, test, and operations teams to ensure components and systems reliability goals are met. The Reliability Engineer will be responsible for research, assessment, and selection of materials, determination of reliability test procedures for materials, preparation and implementation of reliability plans, and reporting of results to engineering and management team. Design and develop reliability test techniques, methods, and procedures. Follow industry standard reliability protocols. Develop custom reliability plans where necessary.
Research of structures and properties of materials including metals, alloys, semiconductors, and polymers. Determine ways to study material interaction to ensure reliable outdoor operation in PV modules.
Develop plans for and subject materials and laminates to various environmental and weathering conditions.
Initiate engineering studies into system or component failures, determine required reliability approach, perform root-cause analysis, development conclusions and make recommendations.
Interact and coordinate with key materials suppliers to ensure material compatibility with Solaria products.
Develop and implement certification, listing, and compliance plans
Devise reliability plan, encapsulate test modules, and perform reliability testing
Operate and maintain material analysis equipment and reliability test equipment
Analysis of large sets of data and synthesis of results
Preparation and presentation of reports
CAD models and drawings
M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
5 or more years of direct experience in PV reliability engineering with emphasis on materials science.
Hands-on experience of solar panel manufacturing, accelerated testing, and failure analysis
Direct experience of certification and compliance testing of PV modules
Proficient in one or more programming languages and lab tools
Experience of data analytics
Experience with CAD tools. Familiarity with SolidWorks is a plus.
Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Team-player who works well as an individual contributor. Proven success in fast-paced and collaborative work environments
