Technical Sales Engineer – Fremont or Oakland, CA

The Technical Sales Engineer plays a key role in fulfilling this commitment by insuring that all customer technical inquiries and concerns are quickly and effectively responded to and resolved. The right candidate for this position is fully fluent in PV technology, has a familiarity with solar system installation, and exhibits excellent customer care skills. This position can be based in Oakland, CA or Fremont, CA and reports to the Vice President of Sales.

Duties and Responsibilities (others may be assigned)

  • Fields pre and post sales customer technical questions and concerns, resolving issues quickly and effectively to insure best in industry customer satisfaction

  • Works closely with the Product Management and Engineering teams to stay abreast of Solaria product developments and serves as technical expert resource to the Sales Team and our customers

  • Works closely with the territory sales managers and effectively engages in the consultative selling process

  • Effectively communicates Solaria’s technical value proposition to customers via phone calls, email, in-person meetings, proposals etc

  • Provides technical support in generating sales proposals

  • Reads technical portions of RFPs and coordinates with other Team members to develop Solaria technical responses

  • Remains fluent and stays informed of the technical and competitive landscape in the industry

  • Remains fluent and stays current on the offerings of industry partners for attachment, structure and other balance-of-system equipment

  • Develops and maintains strong, collaborative working relationships with internal clients at both the senior management and staff level

  • Anticipates customer technical needs and questions and collaborates with marketing and product management staff to create effective product collateral and manuals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in the solar industry is required

  • Excellent customer care skills

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience

  • At least 4 years of experience in PV technical sales and/or installation, solar project design, or solar technology development

  • Expert understanding of how PV modules and systems work and demonstrated ability to effectively explain technical information to a wide variety of internal and external customers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • Skilled in MS Office applications (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

  • Experience with CRM Systems preferred

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically, up to 20%
