Vice President of Finance – Fremont, CA

Job Description

We are looking for a VP of Finance to join our team and implement financial processes and systems as Solaria continues to grow.  As a key member of the team, this person will be responsible for day-to-day implementing, managing, and controlling all company accounting, consolidated reporting and compliance activities. This includes direct responsibility for implementing best practices, overall internal controls and processes for external GAAP and management reporting.  Additionally, the VP of Finance will have primary responsibility for processes that ensure compliance, accurate reporting and ultimately provide controls for managing costs.

Responsibilities (others may be assigned)      

  • Provide leadership in the development and continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives

  • Evaluate and advise Executive Management Team on the potential impact on long-range planning and introduction of applicable accounting principles and adoption of new pronouncements.

  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities

  • Oversee all aspects of the Accounting & Reporting functions of the organization

  • Establish and monitor accounting processes in subsidiaries

  • Ensure that month-end close process is timely and produces accurate monthly P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements

  • Support and coordinate with FP&A on the fiscal year planning process to establish annual and long-range budgets and forecasting

  • Monitor compliance with all provisions of Sarbanes-Oxley and create internal controls for effective financial policies and procedures

  • Review monthly cash forecast, identify trends and variances to projections. Plan and management disbursement and collection activities to attain desired metrics.

  • Analyze general ledger trends and investigate variances

  • Analyze product margins and customer profitability

  • Increase AR collection speed and rates and manage customer risk

  • Support fundraising efforts; developing and maintaining banking relationships

  • Maintain financial controls and procedures

  • Oversee and monitor effective tax strategies

  • Oversee that all aspects of accounting and finance are done in accordance with best practices

  • Work with accounting team to improve the overall efficiency of the department, building out the department as needed during growth


  • Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting

  • CPA; CFA a plus, Big 4 experience preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance management

  • Experience leading a rapidly scaling organization through different stages of company lifecycle; from growth stage to IPO/acquisition etc.

  • Experience & proficiency in SaaS accounting & billing systems (NetSuite)

  • Intermediate level experience with Excel

  • Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley financial compliance regulations

  • Previous experience with a manufacturer is required

  • Project management, analytical, detail-oriented, assertive, and excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize, develop and nurture effective communication and working relationships

  • Thorough understanding of accounting concepts and principles

  • Experience in working with various tax & business agencies

  • Ability to assess inefficiencies in processes or gaps in controls and seek to make improvements continually

  • Able to delegate and to collaborate effectively throughout the organization

  • Must be willing to commute to Oakland office 2-3 days per week
