Solaria Participates in Homes 4 the Homeless Project
At Solaria, we are dedicated to giving back to the community. Whether it is donating panels to islands nations with Solar Head of State or partnering with a Pro-Partner installer to award a deserving veteran with solar, we believe our solar products can change people’s lives.
Solaria had the privilege of participating in a program in Sonoma County with Homes 4 The Homeless. Homes 4 The Homeless was started in 2018 after Steve Schneider, the organization’s founder, lost his home in the Sonoma wildfires. Losing his home was a tragedy, but it left Steve determined to help others in similar positions. Steve started Homes 4 The Homeless with one core mission: providing modular, affordable housing for all those in need. Homes 4 The Homeless depends on a vast network of volunteers and experts to design and build innovative homes, bathrooms, and showers for the homeless.
In its most recent project, Homes 4 The Homeless partnered with the Boys and Girls Club Sonoma-Marin. Working with Farrow Construction, local at-risk youth were chosen for the summer job opportunity to build two portable ADA bathroom and shower units for the homeless. The youth were taught valuable construction and electrical skills designed to inspire careers in the construction industry. The program was also designed to build a sense of community and to teach the importance of helping those in need. This type of vocational youth training program was the first of its kind and the hope is to expand it nationally.
Solaria donated solar panels for the project. We are pleased to be a part of this pilot program and look forward to our continued participation. Check out the video below for more information and to meet some of the young people making a difference for their community.
